Winners from the "Company" competition were chosen during a Dragons Den style presentation process involving a business leader from the local community. The winners now have the chance to turn their ideas to reality and run the tuck shop, developing their entrepreneurial skills, teamwork, problem solving planning and arithmetic skills.
The school council researched healthy snacks and prices, talked about the structure each "company" would need to meet all the job requirements and looked at marketing strategies.
The comprehensive Pupil Voice programme that they have at Sunnyhill means children get the opportunity to learn new skills such as leading meeting's, taking minutes, creating Powerpoints, presenting to their class, working with other schools and adults from the community, doing assemblies, the list goes on....
The Tuck Shop runs every morning at break time and the children are responsible for all of the roles from selling to picking up litter...
In the first three weeks of the Tuck Shop being opened the children made a net profit of £99.70. Half of which will go to The British Heart Foundation, which is the charity chosen by the children.
Congratulations to Dirk and the Pupils Voice working for winning the Community Education Awards
